Brazil has overtaken the United States as the preferred place to invest, according to a new survey by Bloomberg.A poll of around 1400 investors, analysts and traders rated Brazil and China joint first for potential returns over the next year ahead of India in third and the US in fourth. The US had held the top spot in the previous survey three months ago.
Last week Brazil’s state-owned oil giant Petrobras, Latin America’s largest company by revenues and profits, made world history when it raised Ј44 billion in a share sale.

Petrobras’s market value of Ј135 billion ranks only behind Exxon Mobil Corp., Apple Inc. and PetroChina Co. and puts it ahead of companies like Microsoft Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
Meanwhile, the country’s BM&F BOVESPA stock exchange has become the second largest in the world. Its market value of Ј11 billion is 25 per cent higher than the New York, London and Nasdaq Exchanges combined.
Another recent report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has ranked Brazil third in terms of direct foreign investment plans for the next two years. It was placed behind China and India but ahead of the previous number two, the US.
Brazil’s economy is set to grow by more than seven percent this year, according to government officials and private sector economists. That will further cement Brazil as the region’s top economy and one of the 10 largest in the world. As recently as six years ago, Brazil’s economy ranked second in Latin America after Mexico.
All this means there has never been a better time to Invest in Brazil
